We have a small office on Baslow Road in Totley, south west Sheffield, where our staff are based. The volunteer drivers and assistants meet here before they go out on the buses and sometimes have lunch here before the return journey. The Catholic Church kindly allow Transport 17 to park their minibuses in their car park during the week and the Cross Scythes accommodate one or more of them at the weekend.

Transport Coordinator

The Transport Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day management of T17, to deliver an efficient and user friendly transport service to the local community and to support the raising of funds by which to deliver this service. This position is currently vacant.

Administrative support

We currently (September 2020) have a number of people providing administrative support to Transport 17 on a paid and voluntary basis.

Transport 17 drivers

There are currently 9 volunteer drivers for Transport 17. They all have their MIDAS certificate (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme), which needs updating every five years. They drive a minibus between one and three days a week, normally doing the same pick up and drop off so that they get to know the route, the passengers and the lunch club volunteers. They take holidays throughout the year and cover for each other when appointments and other commitments crop up. Those that live outside the S17 area claim their travel expenses back from Transport 17.

Transport 17 passenger assistants

There are currently 10 volunteer passenger assistants for Transport 17. They help out on the buses between one and three days a week, normally helping the same driver on the same pick up and drop off so that they get to know the route, the passengers and the lunch club volunteers. They take holidays throughout the year and cover for each other when appointments and other commitments crop up. Those that live outside the S17 area claim their travel expenses back from Transport 17.

Transport 17 Management Committee

The T17 Management Committee is responsible for directing the activities of T17, managing its employees, ensuring it is well run and is delivering the outcomes for which it was set up. The T17 Management Committee is voted in by its Shareholders at its AGM.
